Managing iOS Devices in Enterprise - Introduction (Part 1)

Finally your organization has decided to please employees with great user experience by distributing iOS devices or allowing to use their own for work. Configuring a single Apple iOS device is a relatively easy. Most of the settings can be found in iOS device and many of the users have already explored some of the options. However, manual configuration and maintenance of each individual device is not practical for organizations as it takes a lot of time, cause mistakes, complicates overall administration considering advanced enterprise-wide requirements. Organizations will normally require to scale up deployment and management of devices for large number of users and applying specialized tools and services similar to how it has been done in the PC world.

In the upcoming series, we will introduce high-level concepts and options for technology decision makers to manage iOS devices. This will cover overview of full life cycle from device enrolment and distribution to management by starting with exploration of simple tools as iTunes, Apple Configurator to MDM (Mobile Device Management) solutions and services that help administrators remotely manage devices in a highly scalable way.
